Introducing Papua New Guinea

Experience our Papua New Guinea Kenta dark roast, a symphony of balanced sweetness and a silky texture intertwined with vibrant grapefruit, rich praline, and captivating undertones. Born at the Kenta Plantation Mill, situated at a high altitude of 1,850 meters, it offers a truly unique flavor journey.

Through Papua New Guinea's traditional washed process and sourced mainly from smallholder "gardens" spanning 1-2 hectares, this coffee reflects the craftsmanship of the local community. Raise your cup as a salute to the dedicated coffee artisans of Papua New Guinea who have crafted this exceptional brew for your enjoyment.

The coffee landscape in Papua New Guinea is marked by its communal approach to processing. Due to the small size of individual farms, most coffee is processed at central washing stations, where it is depulped, fermented, and dried with meticulous care.

About the Coffee Grower

In the rugged terrain of Papua New Guinea's Western Highlands, coffee cultivation is a testament to the resilience and dedication of local farmers. These growers, managing an average of 1.5 hectares of land, nurture around 2,500 coffee trees per hectare. The region's small-scale farms contribute to a communal tapestry of coffee production, where Arusha, Bourbon, and Typica varieties flourish at elevations of 1400 to 1900 meters above sea level. These conditions, combined with the traditional washed process, produce coffees with distinct profiles, celebrated for their unique characteristics in the global market.

Sourcing coffee from Papua New Guinea presents unique challenges, given its diverse cultural and linguistic landscape. Through building relationships and establishing direct sourcing from local washing stations and cooperatives, they have facilitated the development of specialty coffee programs, enhancing the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and bringing the distinct flavors of Papua New Guinea’s coffee to the world stage.
